Harvest Festival

We will be giving our harvest donations to Watford New Hope Trust and while they are grateful for all items received the priority needs are: sugar; instant coffee; tea bags; spaghetti/pasta; tinned meat; soup; squash (especially orange and Ribena); stock cubes/gravy mixes and antibacterial hand wash.

It is easier for them to store items in tins and jars rather than packets.

Donations of money are always needed and you may prefer to give this way rather than with goods.  Pip

Broom cupboard We are looking for a cupboard for brooms etc, to place in the entrance lobby of the Hall. A glance at the space available will show that it needs to be quite narrow, but if anyone can offer e.g. a single wardrobe with one door, please let me know. Marilyn

The Shrubs between the Hall and the Church are beginning to win the fight with the weeds, but they still need help. They would appreciate a kind volunteer to spare an hour to weed the side I hadn't time to do last week - any offers? Marilyn

Window Sill Decoration for Harvest Festival/Back to Church Sunday, 28th September

September 28th will not only be Back to Church Sunday but also Harvest Festival. Let's see if the window sills can be the best decorated yet, to amaze all the people who come "back to church"! There is a list at the back of church to sign for the windowsill of your choice.  If all spaces are taken have a word with me and we'll find somewhere! Sally

Back to Church Sunday 28th September 2008

This is a national initiative that we are taking part in at St. Matthew's.  We will be giving out invitation cards for our 9.30am Harvest Festival Service on 28th September. Please give a card to someone you know who used to go to church but doesn't anymore for whatever reason. The cards come in 3 sections. You give away 2 parts headed 'You are specially invited' and 'Friendly feedback' and retain the 3rd part with the prayer and space for you to note the name of the person you have invited. Please fill in the details on the invitation section. To help with planning please note their name and address on the list at the back of church. If you know several people please ask for more cards or return the card if you can't think of anyone. Many thanks. Fr. David

Book of Remembrance

Please can you let me know of any names you would like recording in the remembrance book as I plan to send pages to the calligrapher for entering soon. Fr. David

Cedar Tree

Following on from the report from our tree surgeon recommending felling of the Cedar tree because of the high risk to person and property the PCC have given the go ahead for the work to be carried out. It will take place shortly over several days.
