Christian Aid Tea Time, Friday 19th September 3.30pm – 6.00pm |
On Friday 19th Sept Christian Aid are having a giant Tea Time all over the country (and elsewhere). My contribution to this worthwhile cause is to host a Tea Party at 3 Eastbury Rd from 3.30-6.00pm. I hope to have LOTS of guests to swell the donations. There will be tea, cakes and biscuits, plus cakes to buy (contributions gratefully accepted). I hope also to have a plant stall (contributions welcome). This event is open to anyone who is happy to put their hand in their pocket for Christian Aid, and their great work among the world's poorest. Bring your friends/neighbours. Please sign list at the back of church if you want or can offer a lift. Sally |

Window Sill Decoration for Harvest Festival/Back to Church Sunday, 28th September |
September 28th will not only be Back to Church Sunday but also Harvest Festival. Let's see if the window sills can be the best decorated yet, to amaze all the people who come "back to church"! There is a list at the back of church to sign for the windowsill of your choice. If all spaces are taken have a word with me and we'll find somewhere! Sally |

Back to Church Sunday 28th September 2008 |
This is a national initiative that we are taking part in at St. Matthew's. We will be giving out invitation cards for our 9.30am Harvest Festival Service on 28th September. We need your help please. Please can you give a card to someone you know who used to go to church but doesn't anymore for whatever reason. You'll see that the cards come in three sections. The idea is you give away two parts headed 'You are specially invited' and 'Friendly feedback' and retain the third part with the prayer and space for you to note the name of the person you have invited so you can pray for them. Please can you fill in the details on the invitation section. To help with planning please can you note their name and address on the list at the back of church. If you know several people do please ask for more cards or return the card if you can't think of anyone. Many thanks. Fr. David |

Did you know Percy or Edith Fowler? |
I received an email from J. Kenneth Wales in the USA asking “for information on Percy Fowler a brother of my grandfather [Ernest Alexander Fowler] and a possible sister, Edith. Last known contact with them was in the mid 1960's, when they were either in their 70's or 80's. They were living in Watford, possibly in and around Watford Heath.” Does this ring any bells? If so, contact me and I will pass on any information. Colin Richards |
