As most of you know I will be celebrating my 90th birthday on the 19th May, but my family cannot get down from Yorkshire until the following week, so after the 9.30am service on the 25th we would like to see you all in the hall for cake and wine. Sid |

OVEG Fair, Saturday 7 June, 2.00pm, Oxhey Green, Lower Paddock Road – Cake Stall |
St Matthews regularly has a Cake Stall at the OVEG Fair. We have asked Bushey and Oxhey Methodists to join with us this year but we still need more volunteers to make a cake or cakes. You make it we can sell it! It need not be fancy, small cakes and Vicortia sandwiches sell well (remember people have to carry it round all afternoon). See Margaret if you need a foolproof recipe (oxheymet@aol.com) Cakes can be brought to the stall on the afternoon or delivered to 3 Eastbury Road or 71 Villiers Road in the morning. |

St Albans Pilgrimage – Saturday 21st June |
Some of us tried this one out last year, and it was absolutely fantastic. We are planning to take part in this exciting event which begins with a procession at 10.30am leading to the Eucharist at 11.30am and ending with Evensong at 4.00pm. We can get free parking tickets if we apply in good time, so if you wish to take your car please let me know so I can order a permit. However, it may be necessary to walk from Westminster Lodge car park. There will be a list to sign, requesting and offering lifts. Last year some of us went by train, which worked well. There is plenty of opportunity to see the giant puppets and other displays and for feasting. St Alban (14ft high puppet) is arrested and tried at the far end of the park, and marched in procession, including every child in St Albans in appropriate fancy dress and large quantities of other interested parties (A'Bp Tutu last year) and is put to death in the orchard before the Solemn Eucharist. There is Chariot Racing and Lion Taming, etc.. |

Hassocks and chairs |
The 'help yourself to a hassock' invitation has met with an enthusiastic response and we are now down to the number we need, so please don't take any more! However, we do still have a few of the old wooden chairs if anyone would like one. Please see the Vicar or a Churchwarden. |
