Would like to thank everyone at St. Matthew's for their help and support following their sad loss of Ivy, particularly on the day of the funeral. Special thanks go to Roger for helping Harriet to sing so beautifully at the funeral service. |

Chocoholics Evening |
|
The Red Cross are holding a tempting evening on Tuesday, November 13th, 7.45 at Bushey & Oxhey Methodist Hall. There will be a wide selection of items for gifts or just self-indulgence, ranging from 10p to £25! There will also be an opportunity to try the products. All profits help the Red Cross, so how can it be wrong? More details in the letter at the back of church. Phyllis |

Posada 2007 |

As in previous years Mary and Joseph (knitted, not real!) will be spending December travelling round Oxhey. It seems a long time ahead, but I need names now so I can concoct a geographically sensible journey ready for Advent Sunday. Please sign the list at the back of church before Nov 17th. Sally |

Working party: Saturday 10th November, from 9am to 12noon |
|
Advance notice of our Autumn working party on Saturday 10th November, from 9am to 12. We shall be gardening, creating a new hedge and generally tidying up the grounds before the winter. Please come and help! With some willing hands, we can achieve a lot in a short time. Refreshments are excellent, you don't need expertise and it's all good fun. Marilyn |

Garden Plants |
|
Our garden working party on 10th November will include clearing the flower (weeds!) beds on the sides of the new path at the rear of the church leading to the hall. It is the intention to plant this area with small shrubs. Donations of plants would be welcome. We are looking for small evergreen shrubs, flowering/non-flowering about 12" to 18" tall. Perhaps you have some in your garden that need thinning out? Please bring them along or contact Trevor Moore |

Evening Prayer |
|
Do you miss this lovely service, once a regular in every Anglican Church? It is now said once a month in Hillside, and extras are always welcome. I am always glad of volunteers to read the lessons, and to keep the momentum with the psalm and responses. It is 1st Thursday in every month, and you will see old friends who now live there! Put it in your diary, and we hope to see you there. Sally |

The Ohio prisoner on Death Row with whom Jill Higgs corresponds, still sometimes mentions his "friends at St Matthew's" in his letters. He was so cheered by the cards we sent him last year that Jill wonders if anyone would like to give one again. If you would, please give it to her by the end of November. (Preferably not too big) |
