Ivy Steel RIP Ivy’s funeral service takes place in St. Matthew's at 9.45am on Monday 29th October.  Penny and the family would be pleased to see anyone from St. Matthew's, especially those who knew Ivy, at the service or at Breakespeare Crematorium.  Donations will be collected for Leukaemia Research Fund, as Ivy raised money for this charity over many years by her knitting. We extend our love and sympathy to the family at this time.

A Celebratory Concert of 19th century choral music,  followed by supper,  is being held at St. Andrew's Church (Church Road near Watford Junction) on Saturday 3rd November. This is the last event of the 150th  Anniversary celebrations and we are warmly invited. Concert £5 (5pm) concert and supper £7.50 (supper starts at around 7pm). Marilyn has booking details.

Working party: Saturday 10th November, from 9am to 12noon

Advance notice of our Autumn working party on Saturday 10th November, from 9am to 12. We shall be gardening, creating a new hedge and generally tidying up the grounds before the winter. Please come and help! With some willing hands, we can achieve a lot in a short time. Refreshments are excellent, you don't need expertise and it's all good fun. Marilyn

Chris Gear thanks everyone who sponsored his cycle ride. He enjoyed his day out and was able to send off £110 to the Beds & Herts Historic Churches fund.

Eva Griffiths is now walking well enough to open her front door, and would love to see anyone from St Matthew's.

Operation Christmas Child

All Saints South Oxhey are organising a collection this year. If you would like to take part please collect a leaflet from the back of the church.

Used Stamps

There is a box at the back of church for used stamps which Phyllis is collecting for Dogs for the Deaf.  Please leave stamps in the box in a bag or an envelope to make it easier to take away.  Thank you.

Evening Prayer

Do you miss this lovely service, once a regular in every Anglican church? It is now said once a month in Hillside, and extras are always welcome. I am always glad of volunteers to read the lessons, and to keep the momentum with the psalm and responses. It is 1st Thursday in every month, and you will see old friends who now live there! Put it in your diary, and we hope to see you there.  Sally
